Mullet men at the end of the day.  Pine Island’s early fishermen used seine nets made of cotton.  These had to be washed and limed after each trip.  Here you can see nets strung out to dry.  On the right is  classic mullet boat, which was usually rowed or poled over the flats among the islands.
