Pine Island Sound DORMITORIES AND ICE HOUSES ASSOCIATED WITH FISHING INDUSTRY. 1920-1945. 9 Frame Vernacular buildings set on pilings in Pine Island Sound. 8 were used as dormitories for commercial fisherman and 2 as ice houses to preserve fish until they could be brought to Fort Myers for sale. Most used today as fish camps for sports fishermen.
