The Steamboat “Thomas A. Edison”

The Thomas A. Edison, one of the eight steamers owned by the Menge Brothers Steamboat Line. For 22 years, the steamers plied up the Caloosahatchee River past the landings of pioneer settlers. Built in 1904 at Apalachicola. Used as freighter and passenger boat on the Caloosahatchee River until it burned on January 30, 1914.  The “Thomas A. Edison” carried passengers between Fort Myers and La Belle.
